Bank of England

Postgraduates

If you have completed a Masters in Economics and/or Finance, you will have the opportunity to join our postgraduate scheme and our structured Analyst Career Training (ACT) programme.

We accept applications from September to November each year for appointments commencing the following October. All places for 2008 are now filled. We will open for applications for placements commencing in 2009 in September this year.

We will give you the opportunity to gain experience on both shorter-term analysis and longer-term research. Both will give you the chance to influence monetary policymakers at the highest level and impact upon the debate of key issues in the Bank.

You will have early responsibility, which could include direct and regular contact with the members of the Bank’s key policy forums, such as the Monetary Policy Committee and Financial Stability Board.

You will be motivated by working with highly experienced and skilled economists and there will be good opportunities to publish your own research. The Bank’s postgraduate scheme provides you with the opportunity to develop your professional skills and profile in a friendly, challenging and rewarding environment.

If your postgraduate degree is in a subject other than Economics or Finance, you should apply as a first degree entrant.
