Selection Process
Our main selection centres are all-day events and take place at Threadneedle Street during January and February each year. You will be asked during the application process if you require any special arrangements on the day.
Analytical skills are highly important to graduate roles at the Bank and therefore our first stage selection involves a written analytical test. As we invite applications from all degree disciplines, the analytical test you undertake will differ depending on your degree background. IT graduates will be asked to sit an IT-based psychometric test as their first stage selection.
Successful candidates will be invited to a selection centre as the second stage. The centre is for an entire day and will involve:
- a competency-based interview, looking at both your technical knowledge and your soft skills. You will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of the Bank’s role and our core purposes.
- a group exercise, which concentrates primarily on your soft skills and how you interact in a team environment. It is important that you speak up and play an active role in the group to gain a good mark in this exercise.
- a psychometric test, in the form of a Financial Appraisal test to assess your problem-solving skills. IT graduates will sit a logic test and the analytical ability test instead.
All offers of employment will be subject to satisfactory references, security clearance, identity check, criminal record check, credit check, proof of qualifications and immigration clearance where appropriate. You will also be asked to complete a medical questionnaire.
