If I am relocating to work in London, will the Bank help me find suitable accommodation?
We may be able to off relocation support to those new PhD entrants currently based overseas who are relocating to London to work at the Bank. Further details on this will be available if a job offer is made.
How many vacancies are there?
PhD Economist and Internship vacancies vary year-on-year and are related to the needs of local areas.
Does the Bank have a research department?
The Bank does not have a separate research department – instead research is carried out alongside policy work in smaller teams focused on specific areas. PhD economists typically work on a blend of both research and policy analysis. For a better idea of the work you might be involved in, please look at the personal profiles.
I need a work permit. Can I apply to the Bank?
As well as advertising vacancies on our website, we also place adverts in the national media or on academic websites. In order to comply with the requirements of Work Permits UK, you would need to apply for one of these advertised positions if you require a work permit.
